Reasons Why I choose Vietnam
I feel that Vietnam had a great impact on our country. It slumped our economy. It outraged our citzens. It made us lose many solider lives. In my opinion it was a costly mistake. But we can not take back what we have already have done. I also choose Vietnam because my Grandfather was in Vietnam. He came back alive and still is living today. He was in the United States Air Force. I am greatly influenced by him. This is why I choose Vietnam.

Significance of the Vietnam War
Significance
The Vietnam war was both in ways needed and could of been avoided. The communism rise of North Vietnam was becoming overwhelming. And it was becoming hostile to the people of South Vietnam. So, they needed our protection. The U.S. lost around 58,000 troops. Fighting for the protection of others. They died for a lost cause. Because the end result was North Vietnam taking over the rest of Vietnam. The U.S. had to back out. This loss of soliders and the war caused an up roar in the U.S. governement. The economy was suffering and the people were wanting change. This also, brought up many questions. That even a world super power isn't unbeatable...

Fighting
Fighting in Vietnam
The fighting was fierce. The war was mainly guerrilla warfare. Which is where it is more of a quick battle and retreat. So, you could so there were many little battles than few big battles. Because the fighting took place in Vietnam, the war was in the jungle. This moist and damp environment made it very difficult for the U.S. to operate well with their equipment. Because their weapons would jam very easily and needed constant maintenance. Also, the jungle was dense and confusing. So maps were somtimes obsoulte. The war had a signifacant purpose.

The Vietnam War
1955-1975
The Vietnam War, a war the U.S. should never have fought in. It took place from 1955 through 1975. At first there wasn't too much involvement for the U.S. in the early years. But as time grew, the war did too. At the turn of the decade, the U.S. really started to fly over seas. Every year, the number of troops nearly doubled and tripled for three years. Many lives were lost. At first the fighting was mainly between the French and North Vietnam. The French were trying to defend South Vietnam. So did the U.S. The reason for this is because North Vietnam at this time was communist. I'll get more into the fighting in the next post.
